FROM FOG TO FUJI
The fog was supposed to be a problem. Instead, it set the tone. Kawaguchiko felt otherworldly, dreamy, cinematic, almost unreal, like something out of Blade Runner. We ducked into Lawson to warm up and grab a small snack to kick off the day. Five minutes later, we stepped back outside and the fog had lifted. Mt. Fuji stood there behind the store, sharp and unmistakable.
THE CEREMONY AT CELESTE CHAPEL - TIED BETWEEN THE SEA
The Celeste Chapel is a quiet, intimate space, surrounded by sky and sea. The light inside shifts with the weather, filling the room softly as the ceremony unfolds. Outside, the ocean stretches endlessly, and guests gather on the open deck beforehand, taking it all in. It’s calm and understated — a space that lets the focus stay exactly where it should be, on the moment itself.
IN SHADES OF AUTUMN
From there, the day moved with momentum. The Maple Corridor burned in deep autumn red, the kind of colour that doesn’t translate properly unless you’re standing in it. At the Kubota Itchiku Art Museum, the architecture shifted the mood. The entrance felt ancient, almost solemn. We filmed a quiet, candid moment there, soft light breaking through the trees.
WHERE THE LIGHT FINALLY SOFTENED
Golden-hour settled over the Sengokuhara Susuki Grass Fields, the last light slipping through the tall grass as a fresh breeze moved through the field. Shae and Stephen wandered in and out of the grass, playful and unguarded, giving us moments that felt entirely their own.
We ended the day in Hakone with a quiet visit to the Botanical Garden of Wetlands, letting everything slow down naturally, exactly as it needed to.
