ELOPEMENT BEFORE MT FUJI - JO & ERIC

We woke before sunrise for a 6am elopement beneath Mt. Fuji, the air crisp and the lake perfectly still as Jo and Eric shared their vows in the first light of day. Tears caught the morning sun, birds swept across Lake Kawaguchiko, and everything felt quiet in the best way. What followed were two unhurried days of hidden shrines, peaceful gardens, coastal bike rides, and golden sunsets, intimate moments woven gently through Kawaguchiko and Kamakura.

EXCHANGING VOWS IN FRONT OF MT FUJI AT SUNRISE

We woke up at 5am to get ready for a 6am elopement with the rising sun in front of Mt. Fuji. It was cold and frosty in the morning but this day couldn’t have been more perfect. Every moment of it.
We drove to Nagasaki Park while it was still dark and warmed up in the van as we watched the birds fly across Lake Kawaguchiko in front of Mt. Fuji. As the sky slowly lit up, we made our way down to the waterfront, where Jo and Eric began sharing their vows. It was beautiful and emotional. They shed tears that sparkled in the morning sun.

A BREAK BEFORE THE AUTUMN COLORS

We then drove to a small café nearby for breakfast and visited the Kubota Itchiku Art Museum. Afterwards, we popped over to Lake Saiko for a quick shoot and attempted to skip some stones. We managed about three. Not bad, Eric! By this time, the sun was setting behind the hills, and we had a two hour drive back to Kamakura.

DISCOVERING KAMAKURA'S HIDDEN GEMS

The following day, we rented some bikes and visited a few local shrines in the area, including my favorite, Myohonji, tucked away behind the hills. We later visited Hokokuji Temple and a teahouse across the road called Kisenan, a traditional teahouse overlooking a beautiful Japanese garden. After that, we made our way back to Kamakura Station and took the Enoden tram to Shichirigahama Station, the stop next to Kamakura Kokomae Station, where the famous Slam Dunk Enoden scene was filmed. We went down to the beach and had some fun there just as the sun was dipping low. That’s a wrap.We had such a fun time and visited so many places hidden away from the public eye, which was perfect for Jo and Eric, as they wanted something a little more intimate. Definitely check these places out if you’re in the area, and happy shooting!
