ASHLEY & KAELAN - CHATEAU RIGAUD, FRANCE
Three days at Château Rigaud, right at the peak of the French summer.
I don’t think any of us were quite prepared for just how hot it was going to be. Everyone was completely drenched by midday, but somehow that became part of what made the weekend so memorable. Nobody seemed to care. We were in the French countryside, surrounded by friends, family, good food and probably more wine than water.
It all started with a welcome dinner at a vineyard, which was such a beautiful way to bring everyone together before the wedding. The next morning was slow and relaxed, with everyone taking their time before gathering beneath the incredible old tree at Château Rigaud. You can only imagine how many couples have stood underneath those branches over the years, which made it feel even more special.
By the evening, the live band had everyone on their feet and the whole place came alive. Somewhere towards the end of the night, out came a huge croquembouche made of cheese, which felt like the most perfectly French way to finish the day.
The final day was exactly what everyone needed. A long afternoon around the swimming pool, cooling off, recovering and reliving everything that had happened the night before.
Then somehow, a poolside fashion show started.
One by one, everyone got involved, walking the length of the pool while the rest of us cheered them on. It was completely spontaneous, a little ridiculous and probably one of my favourite memories from the entire weekend.
Three days of ridiculous heat, late nights, swimming, dancing, laughter and some very good cheese.
